1.Name
Jiazhi LI

2.Faculty/Graduate School, Department (Stream / Program) / Major

Graduate School of Engineering, Nuclear Engineering and Management

3.Name of award and short explanation about the award
Best Poster Award
Student Seminar in The 11th Korea-Japan Symposium on Nuclear Thermal
Hydraulics and Safety
in Busan, Republic of Korea on the 20th of November in 2018

4.About awarded research
Title: The development of particle methods for simulating sodium-water
chemical reaction

Introduction: Sodium-water chemical reaction has been posing safety
problems on the integrity of heat exchanger tubes
in the steam generator of sodium-cooled faster reactor. We proposed a
new scheme by means of particle methods
to conduct numerical simulations on the multi-phase chemical reaction
for further investigations. Chemical reaction rates
were modeled in terms of particle interaction and diffusion of
multi-components of reactant inside particles. Reasonable
reaction phenomena can be observed in the simulation result from our study.

5.Your impression & future plan
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisor Prof.
Yamaguchi Akira for his professional guidance and continuous encouragement.
I also would like to thank all colleagues in our lab for supporting me
attending this conference. It was a great experience to feel being
deeply enrolled in the nuclear thermal-hydraulics community. I hope to
accelerate my research work and make more research achievements from now
on. More validation work and improvement on models are required to be
done for making my research work widely applicable.
