【Awards and Commendations】Tatsuki Kobayashi, Sakaue lab, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, (M1)
On 10/16/2024, Tatsuki Kobayashi, Sakaue lab, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, (M1), received the “Student Presentation Award” at the Physical Society of Japan.
〈Name of award and short explanation about the award〉
The award is given to students whose presentation content, delivery, and responses during the Q&A session are recognized as particularly outstanding.
〈About awarded research〉
Devolopment of an optical cavity for pre-bunched FEL oscillator
In a free-electron laser (FEL), where laser oscillation is achieved from an electron beam, the state in which the electron beam is bunched more shortly than the wavelength of the oscillating light is called as a “pre-bunched FEL.” Although this concept has been predicted through calculations, laser oscillation has not yet been experimentally realized. This report presents the current status of the design and development of an optical cavity aimed at first experimental demonstration such laser oscillation.
〈Your impression & future plan〉
I am truly honored to receive an award at such a long-established conference. I would like to express my deep gratitude to Professor Sakaue for his continuous guidance, as well as to the other professors who have supported and collaborated with me in my research. Encouraged by this recognition, I will continue to advance my research for the development of technology that benefits society.
