On 10/11/2024, TANAKA Hiroki, Takata lab, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, (M1), received “Student Session Award” at the PSAM17&ASRAM2024.
〈Name of award and short explanation about the award〉
“Student Session Award”
This award is given for an outstanding poster presentation at the Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Management 17 & Asian Symposium on Risk Assessment and Management 2024(PSAM17&ASRAM2024) conference.
〈About awarded research〉
Title: Probabilistic Approach for Best Estimate of Fuel Rod Fracture
About awarded research: To achieve more rational risk-informed decision making for nuclear facilities, it is necessary to realistically estimate both the plant response (on the stress side) and the allowable limits (on the strength side), including uncertainties. For a more realistic core damage determination, this study proposes a best-estimate approach for fuel rod fracture. We examined a method that integrates a fuel fracture probability estimation model for loss-of-coolant accidents with plant response analysis, accounting for uncertainties. Additionally, we compared the use of the Monte Carlo method and numerical integration to improve computational efficiency while considering uncertainties.
〈Your impression & future plan〉
Although I felt anxious about my first international conference, I am delighted to have received such high praise. I’d like to express my deep gratitude to the professors who supported me. This award motivates me to put more effort into my future research.
