Yosuke, NISHIMURA, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, D2, received “Akiyama Medal” at the 30th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE30)

[Name of award and short explanation about the award]

Akiyama Medal

30th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE30),May 21-26, 2023, Kyoto, Japan, establishes the “Akiyama Medal” to recognize the best student from Student Paper Competition Track every year.

[About awarded research]

The development of high-quality fuels is crucial to enhance the efficiency and safety of nuclear reactors. In particular, for high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, an innovative fuel design incorporating a silicon carbide matrix with high thermal conductivity and oxidation resistance holds great potential, making it highly advantageous for enhancing reactor performance and safety.

[Your impression & future plan]

I am deeply honored to receive the Akiyama Medal at the international conference. I would like to express my utmost gratitude to my professors for their guidance and support throughout this journey. My hope is that this work will contribute to the advancement of new technologies for nuclear reactors, ultimately helping to mitigate climate change in the future.
