On 6/12/2023, Suzune Katayama, Murakami Lab., Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, M1, received the “EXCELLENT PAPER AWARD” at the The Asian Symposium on Risk Assessment and Management in 2023.

ASRAM is an international conference on risk assessment and management, currently held on a rotating basis by Japan, China and Korea. ASRAM-2023 was held at City University of Hong Kong.

Title: “STUDY ON MAINTENANCE PLANNING USING PLANT-SPECIFIC RELIABILITY PREDICTION”

Condition-based maintenance is important to improve the usage rate of nuclear power plants and reduce radiation exposure of employee. However, the mathematical engineering approach in this field has not been widely used because component failures rarely occur in nuclear power plants and the interaction of failures of multiple components in the system is difficult to model. Focusing on physical correlations, such as the effect of pump vibration on valve leakage, she proposed a method for predicting the condition of various components from monitorable signals. The model is still under development, but future developments are expected.
