On 8/29/2025, TANAKA Hiroki, Takata lab, Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, (M2), received “The Best Paper Awards: Excellent Prize” at the Asian Symposium on Risk Assessment and Management 2025(ASRAM2025).
〈Name of award and short explanation about the award〉
The Best Paper Awards: Excellent Prize
This award is given for an outstanding paper at the ASRAM2025 conference.
〈About awarded research〉
Title: Study on Best Estimate of Fuel Rod Fracture during LOCA including Uncertainty in Stress-Strength Model
About awarded research:To achieve a more rational risk assessment of nuclear facilities, it is necessary to accurately evaluate both the plant response (stress side) and the failure limit (strength side), including uncertainty. To achieve a more rational and realistic core damage determination, this study proposes a best-estimate approach for fuel rod fracture. We examined a best-estimate method for fuel rod fracture that considers uncertainty by integrating a fuel fracture probability estimation model for loss-of-coolant accidents with plant response analysis. In addition, the applicability of numerical integration was demonstrated to improve the computational efficiency of the proposed method.
〈Your impression & future plan〉
I am deeply honored to have received such a high recognition from the selection committee. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the committee members for their review, the organizers for providing me with the opportunity to present at this conference, and to Professor Takashi Takata and Assistant Professor Takafumi Narukawa for their invaluable guidance.
