Title of the poster: “Investigation of Geopolymer Applicability for Fuel Debris Retrieval: Strength Evaluation and Criticality Assessment”.

Abstract of presentation:

A large-scale fuel debris removal method using geopolymer has been proposed as one of the fuel debris removal methods at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. In this study, multi-stage injection was tested as a countermeasure against cracking of the geopolymer solidified material, and its suitability was examined. Furthermore, the necessary amount of neutron absorber added to the geopolymer to prevent re-criticality during fuel debris removal and storage was determined by analysis. We proposed a solution to the problem of the large-scale retrieval method.

<Future aspirations/thoughts>

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the award. The results I have achieved through my research are the fruit of the support and cooperation of many people, including Senior Researcher Shunichi Suzuki. I will continue to make efforts to contribute to the completion of the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Thank you very much.
