On 23/1/2024, Rei Nakano, Murakami Lab., Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, M2, received the “Presentation Awards” at the Atomic Energy Society of Japan, Kita-kanto Branch Young Researchers Workshop.
This event aims to enhance the networking of young researchers from national research institutes, nuclear power plant suppliers, and universities, who has a relationship with Ibaraki and Tochigi.
Titel: “Role of probabilistic consideration on knowledge base for nuclear emergency and response”.
This study examined how information obtained from Level 3 probabilistic risk assessment should be used to improve the effectiveness of nuclear emegency preparedness. After a detailed survey of the current state of nuclear emegency drills and and assessments, a probabilistic assessment was conducted using the OSCAAR code. In particular, he focused on the phenomenon of shadow evacuation, in which residents in areas far from a nuclear power plant voluntarily evacuate, delaying the evacuation of residents in the vicinity of the nuclear power plant. In order to satisfy the condition that “personal decision-making of residence does not harm others,” he examined what kind of information should be shared in advance.
