On 6/09/2023, Yosuke NISHIMURA, Okamoto Lab., Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management (D2), received “superior student poster award（学生ポスターセッション優秀賞)” at the Atomic Energy Society of Japan 2023 Fall Meeting.

[Description of the award]

He won a superior student poster award at AESJ conference in Nagoya Uni.

[Research topic]

He has been working on the development and evaluation of innovative nuclear fuels for high temperature gas-cooled reactors. He successfully fabricated dense silicon carbide matrix through reaction sintering process. The obtained reaction-sintered SiC has high thermal conductivity and exceptional oxidation resistant properties, ensuring the effective heat removal during normal operations and fuel safety in the case of accidents.
